Chapter Prepositional Verbs and Verbs with an adverbial particle


Prepositions allow changes in verb meaning.

He is looking at me. « at » is a preposition. A preposition is always followed by a complement.
This complement cannot be placed between the preposition and the verb : He is looking me at cannot be considered as a correct sentence.

The same verb can have different prepositions :
He is looking for his driving licence.
He is looking forward to going to school.
He is looking after his grandmother.
