Compound adjectives can be either epithets or subject complements.

- Compounds of a noun and a past participle :
a home-made cake.

- Compounds of an adverb or adjective and a verb in - ing :
a good-looking girl.

- Compounds of an adverb or adjective and a verb in –ed :
She is well-dressed.

- Compounds of an adjective and a noun adding – ed :
She's a red-haired girl.
