Chapter Reflexive and reciprocal pronouns

In English, there are two reciprocal pronouns : « each other » and « one another » . Generally, we use « each other » when we refer to two persons and « one another » when we refer to more than two persons.
However, the use of « each other » is more frequent than that of « one another ».
They met each other at work.
They helped one another.

The reciprocal pronouns introduce a notion of exchange contrary to the reflexive pronouns.
They saved each other.
They saved themselves.

In the first example, the reciprocal pronoun allows us to indicate that they mutually saved each other. In the second example, the reflexive pronoun indicates that each of them saved themselves.
